Meet Dr. Verna

Dr . Rebecca Verna graduated in 1989 from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia at Virginia Tech, after obtaining her Master's Degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, MD. Currently, Dr. Verna practices Integrative Veterinary Medicine, which combines Holistic practices with conventional, modern medicine.

Soon after graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Verna found that acupuncture and animal chiropractic treatments dramatically helped her own Chocolate Lab, Casey, develop hind leg strength and resume his ability to climb stairs and frolic across the lawn, completely recovering from his severe chronic spinal disc disease without surgery. Dr. Verna was hooked! She began to study these and other holistic therapies, and became certified in Animal Chiropractic through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association Program in 1992. Then she dove into studies of Veterinary Acupuncture, obtaining certification through IVAS (the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) in 1995.

Pretty soon, Dr. Verna was participating in miracles, as patient -after-patient resumed use of paralyzed limbs, became pain-free, and added years to its life expectancy as a healthier, happier pet due to treatment with chiropractic techniques, acupuncture, and herbs. She continued her studies and signed up for course after course in continuing education for both conventional and holistic therapies.

Today, Dr. Becky Verna is officially certified in Animal Chiropractic through the AVCA Options for Animals program, Veterinary Acupuncture through IVAS and the AAVA (American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture), as a Certified Veterinary Chinese Herbalist (CVCH) through the program offered by the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Sturtevant, Wisconsin,  is certified as an "Animal Physical Therapist" (CCRP = Certified Canine Rehabilitative Practitioner) from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Becky is certified in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Food Therapy through the Chi Institute in Florida. In addition to the above official certifications, Dr. Verna is a Reiki Master, practices Applied Kinesiology, NAET for Animals (an allergy treatment technique), Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, works with Flower Essences, Essential Oils, Homeopathic Medicines, Animal Massage, Western Herbology, Magnetic Therapy, and several other forms of Energy Medicine.

Dr. Verna holds current membership in the American Veterinary Medical Association (the AVMA), the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (the NVVMA), the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA), the DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine (www.dcavm.org), the AVCA, IVAS, AAVA, American Veterinary Botanical Association (AVBA --Herbal Studies), the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA), the American Canine Sports Medicine Association (ACSMA), and other organizations. She is accredited as a veterinarian through the FDA, and maintains her license to practice veterinary medicine in Virgina, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
